Pursuit (“we”, “us” or “our”) is a job-search and application-tracking platform operated as a Sole Trader trading name. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect your personal data when you use our website and services.

We are committed to handling your data responsibly and in compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, and the EU GDPR where it applies to you.

The data controller responsible for your personal data is Pursuit, operating as a Sole Trader.

• Account data: email address and authentication information provided when you sign up.
• Profile data: name, location, preferred job titles, salary expectations, remote-work preferences, skills and other career details you enter or we parse from your CV.
• CV and documents: the file and extracted text you upload so we can build and populate your profile.
• Search and tracking data: jobs you save, applications you create, status changes, notes, cover-letter drafts and follow-up reminders.
• Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, and cookies or similar identifiers needed to keep you signed in and secure.

• To provide your account and the Pursuit service.
• To score jobs against your profile and show relevant listings.
• To generate cover-letter drafts and ATS insights only when you ask.
• To send service emails such as digests, follow-up reminders and security alerts.
• To improve the service, fix bugs and understand usage patterns.
• To meet legal obligations and protect our rights.

We rely on different legal bases depending on the activity:

• Performance of a contract: providing the platform and storing your data so you can use it.
• Consent: optional emails such as weekly digests, and processing your CV for AI-generated drafts where this goes beyond core service delivery.
• Legitimate interests: keeping the service secure, preventing fraud, and improving features.
• Legal obligation: where we are required to disclose data by law.

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and maintain the security of your session. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. You can control essential cookies through your browser settings, though disabling them may affect how the service works.

We do not sell your personal data. We only share it with service providers who help us run Pursuit:

• Adzuna: to retrieve live job listings. Your profile and CV are not shared with Adzuna.
• AI providers: when you request a cover-letter draft, ATS check or other AI feature, the relevant job description and parts of your profile/CV are sent to our AI model provider for processing.
• Hosting and database: our backend infrastructure provider stores your account data securely.
• Legal authorities: when required by law or to protect our rights.

Your data is primarily stored in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA). Some service providers may process data outside these regions. Where this happens, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission or UK Information Commissioner’s Office.

• Account data: kept for as long as your account is active.
• CV and profile: kept until you delete them or close your account.
• Application tracking data: kept until you delete individual jobs, applications or your account.
• Technical logs: kept for up to 12 months for security and debugging, then deleted or anonymised.

Under UK and EU data protection law, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”).
• Restrict or object to certain processing.
• Receive your data in a portable format.
• Withdraw consent at any time where we rely on it.

We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit, access controls, and regular monitoring. Your CV is stored privately and is only accessible when you are signed in to your account.

Pursuit is not intended for anyone under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. If the changes are significant, we will notify you by email or through the service.
